BACK TO THE QUARTET


VIRGINIE GAGNÉ, violin

A native of Montreal, Virginie Gagné studied at the Conservatoire de Musique with Johanne Arel and Helmut Lipsky, receiving the First Prize in both violin and chamber music. She receives a Master of Music degree from Rice University, studying violin with Sergiu Luca, and earned distinctions in many competitions, including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition and the Canadian Music Competition. Virginie Gagné also joined the New York String Orchestra Seminar at Carnegie Hall, studied with Kathleen Winkler at the Academy of the West in Santa Barbara and participated to Leonfelden’s Summer Academy in Austria. She was invited to join different ensembles, such as les Violons du Roy, the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (since 2006, as part of the first violin section, and now as Interim Concertmaster) and the Alberta Baroque Ensemble. Recently, she was a concerto soloist with the University of Alberta Symphony Orchestra.
